Welcome to Allies Landing

As my home page says, "Words are my life. Being an ally is my mission." Thus the title for this blog.

A landing is, according to Merriam-Webster, "a level part of a staircase (as at the end of a flight of stairs)." It can also be a place where two flights of stairs meet. And that's what this blog is intended to be, a meeting place. For allies, to talk about some of the challenges of being an ally, and for amplifying the voices of those we support.

"Allies Landing" is also an allusion to World War II, because I'm a bit of a history buff, but also because the reference is apt. It took the combined forces of England, the Free French, the Russians, and the Americans, and Resistance groups from all countries to reclaim Europe from totalitarianism. It will take all of us, working together, to realize the vision of the Declaration of Independence--that we are all created equal and all have the same unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
